From 2011 to 2019, Fencing SA ran a school-age team foil competition over two terms each year, on Thursday evenings. The event was open to teams from school programs, as well as clubs.
Teams competed in a round robin pool "league" (the winners being named Premiers and receiving the premiership cup for their division), followed by a direct elimination "knockout challenge" (the winners being named State Champions and receiving medals). Special thanks to the Hondros family and JRHC enterprises who supported the competition by supplying medals each year.
Winners of the Senior Division received the Premiership Cup (donated by Leon Thomas); Junior Division received the Adrian Murphy Cup; Girls received the Ursula Menz Cup.
League matches were fenced in a condensed format (two-minute bouts to a total of 36 hits), and KO matches were full 3-minute, 45 hit matches.
2011 saw all teams compete in one combined Division; 2012 split into Senior (year 9 and up) and Junior (year 8 and below); 2014 introduced a Girls Division (open to all year levels).
From 2020, the format of school competition changed, to offer a Sunday competition - in line with the rest of the Fencing SA calendar - and offering Teams and Individual events in foil and epee.
