COACHES
To become an accredited coach within the Australian system, there is a coach education aspect, and additional accreditation requirements that require updating periodically.
COACH EDUCATION
COACHING COURSES
Fencing SA aims to run one Level 1 coaching course per year, rotating between the weapons. In 2022 and 2023 we have encouraged our members to participate in Oceania Fencing Masters Academy (OFMA) courses, and the AFF and OFC may also run Level 2 or 3 courses from time to time.
Courses are advertised on our website, and via newsletter and social media.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Coaches who have undertaken coach education overseas or interstate and wish to have their education recognised without the need to do a course may apply for an RPL assessment. These are conducted at a $50 fee per weapon. Please contact vice.president@fencingsa.org.au to apply for an RPL
ACCREDITATION REQUIREMENTS
Coaches must also maintain the following valid certifications (and upload evidence to your profile on the AFF's member management system Onpoint).
- Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate (course code HLTAID011)
- Community Coaching Essential Skills (replaces the former "General Principles of Coaching"
- Membership with FencingSA
THE CURRENT LIST OF ACCREDITED COACHES CAN BE FOUND ON THE AUSTRALIAN FENCING FEDERATION SITE HERE.
