The FencingSA Board have adopted guidelines for transgender competitors at state competitions. We acknowledge the high value that sports can contribute to physical and mental wellbeing throughout a fencer’s lifetime. We are proud to promote equitable opportunities in fencing to ensure all people in South Australia, including people who identify as Transgender, Gender Diverse or Non-Binary, can participate in fencing without fear of stigmatisation or discrimination.

Entries have opened for the Youth (Under 15) and Cadet (Under 17) National Championships, to be held in Sydney 1-5 July.

Click here for timetable, competition and entry information
    Standard registrations close 18 June.

Competition is in Foil, Epée and Sabre; individual and teams.

FencingSA will be sending a coach to work with the attending fencers, but will not be organising group accommodation or travel - fencers/parents will need to organise this themselves.

In order for us to plan, if you intend on competing in this event but won't enter just yet, click here to send us an Expression of Interest - have a look at the timetable and please also advise if you would be available for Teams events.

    COMPETITION PRE-REQUISITE - WAIVED

As of 2 June 2022, the Australian Fencing Federation (AFF) have removed the pre-requisite for fencers to compete in a state-based event prior to National Championships.

However, FencingSA encourages all fencers to compete in as many events as they can prior to going interstate - we encourage you to fence up an age category, or in the Open-B events.

U9, U11, U13 and U15 events are being held on 19 June, and U15 sabre, U17/20 and Open-B events on 26 June. Entries are open via our competition event page.

Congratulations to Adrian "Spud" Murphy, who yesterday received Life Membership of Fencing SA.

Adrian started fencing in 1989 at the Adelaide Amateur Fencing Club (now Adelaide Swords Club, of which he is also a Life Member), and over the years has been a competitive fencer representing South Australia on many occasions and a stalwart of the State Team.

He participated as a volunteer at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the role of Equipment Controller, and is always available to assist at the Robyn Chaplin.

in 2012 the "Adrian Murphy Cup" was first awarded to the winners of the Junior Division in the Schools League, named in his honour for the countless hours coaching and mentoring young fencers at both ASC and at Fencing SA events,

Adrian received his Life Membership on 27 February at the 2021 Presentation Awards, and was inducted by fellow Life Member Leon Thomas (who was also Adrian's first coach). Infamous for his threat of "50 push ups", he is now also the proud owner of a tshirt with his motto!
