School Teams League

Fencing SA runs a school-age team foil competition on Thursday evenings in Terms 2 and 3. This is the seventh year of the competition which has grown steadily each year. The competition is open to teams of foil fencers who are attending primary or secondary school. Clubs may enter teams, as well as school groups.  The competition takes place at the McBean Centre, Scotch College, Torrens Park. Matches are at 7pm and 8pm.

Divisions and teams

There are three divisions; junior (all fencers must be in Year 8 and below), senior (Year 9 and above) and girls (all ages). Teams may register for one division only. Teams must have three or more fencers, but there is no maximum number of fencers per team.

Competition format

The competition is divided into two parts: the League and the Knockout Challenge. The League is a round robin; each team will fence every other team in their division. Matches will be fenced to 36 hits (9 bouts of 4 hits). The Knockout Challenge uses the League rankings to develop a knockout competition where matches will be fenced to the full 45 hits.

The 2017 competition begins in Term 2 and will run until late September. For more information and the current timetable, please contact the League Coordinator Ursula Menz at
