3/02/2012 AFF Excellence Awards

The AFF Excellence Awards are an initiative begun in 2003 to recognise excellence in all aspects of the sport of Fencing, from competitor, administrator, volunteer, clubs and state associations.

The AFF Excellence Awards for 2011 will be presented at the first AFF Circuit Competition of 2012 in Melbourne in March.

There are two categories in the Awards that are now open to nominations from the Fencing public:

The Robyn Chaplin OAM Award for Outstanding Service to Australian Fencing - this Award seeks to recognise individuals and/or groups associated with the AFF who have provided valuable services to Australian Fencing in any capacity within the previous year. This may include (but not be limited to) officials, coaches, volunteers, athletes or groups of these people.

The Innovation Award - this Award seeks to recognise states, clubs or individuals associated with the AFF who have identified and followed through with innovative ideas that will further the interests of Australian Fencing.

Nominations should be made on the attached form and emailed to: admin@ausfencing.org

Full conditions and eligibility criteria can be found in the AFF Awards Policy.

The closing date for nominations for both of these awards is Friday 17 February 2012.

Please help us to recognise those people deserving of these awards by circulating this information within your local Fencing community and encourgaing nominations by the closing date.

This information is also available from the AFF website at: www.ausfencing.org

15/01/2012 Team World Championships Expressions of Interest

Please be aware the following has been placed on the Ausfencing website.

The Australian Fencing Federation is calling for expressions of interest from any fencers who may wish to compete in the Senior Women's Sabre or Senior Men's Epee events at the Team World Championships in Kiev (Ukraine) on 13-14 April, 2012.

The Team World Championships will take place only in those events which are not being held as part of the London Olympics. The Championships do not form part of the AFT program, and such all fencers would be responsible for a share of costs involved in team entries and (potentially) any Australian team management / coach requirements (in addition to their own travel and accommodation).

In the event that the AFF receives three or more nominations, the selection process will then be undertaken. Nominations are accepted through the Portal (http://portal.fencing.org.au). You will need to register if you have not yet done so.
